Navigating university challenges while adjusting to London life.

Week 2 (School Freezes Me in Time)

Week 2 is in the books! I have completed a week of classes here in London and much like a lot of other things here, it has been wonderfully frustrating. Listen, I mean absolutely no disrespect to London Met (The university I’m studying at this semester) but it feels like it was architecturally structured to frustrate me. If that wasn’t clear, that means that finding my classes was more than a tad difficult. But, getting past the initial confusion, I made it to all of my classes punctually! Little did I know, that the labyrinth that was those hallways was only level 1, with level 2 being the English Uni system. Since class, I’ve been looking to completely reform how I manage my note-taking, studying, and essay-writing time, which is proving to be more challenging than I’d anticipated. This is a welcome challenge, however, and I find the resistance I experience further evidence of my growth. I’m developing a greater understanding of how Europeans view Americans and their circumstances through my seminar discussions.

Some other things I’ve been looking to commit my energy to is how I dress and how I eat. I did my fair bit of thrifting and grocery shopping my first week, so I’ll be off to a solid start. Now, enjoy some random pictures of my outfit on my first day of class and a meal I cooked in the small kitchenette area in my dorm.

I was so proud of the fit that I didn’t want to ruin it by leaving my face in the picture!
Just call me chef please.
