I’m back! And I’m too prideful to let this go without blogging for all of the weeks I’ve been here, so we’re gonna keep going!
Week 10: Back in week 10, I was deep in the trenches of my classes, I was deep in the monotony of my (admittedly delicious) meal planning, and I was working my way back into the gym. One of the most storied grounds in sports is a 2-minute walk from my university, and sometimes after class, I would treat myself to its beauty. Other times, I would just grab some boba and head home… Listen, sometimes only you can know what you need, and this week, that was my mantra this week, resulting in unnecessary strain on my budget.
Week 11: Week 11 included my trip to Bath and my first week on holiday. I went with my friends Kylan and Akira, and we squeezed every ounce of fun out of Bath that we could (while on a budget). I had wanted to see the Jane Austen exhibit, but my budget slammed the door in my face, that boba coming back to bite me. We walked a healthy amount while we were there, goofed around in the park, explored a bunch of the shops, argued over navigation, and hiked up an impressively steep mountain (I was drenched by the end, the 2 gym sessions I had prior couldn’t save me), all in all I deemed the trip a success.
Week 12: Week 12 was the week of SINNERS!! I was excited to see the 5th collaboration between Ryan Coogler and Michael B. Jordan, but after seeing the Kodak promotional video with Coogler explaining the intent behind the way the film was shot and the importance of seeing it on the biggest screen possible, I made sure to take my behind to the BFI and do just that. Not only does the BFI in Southbank have the biggest screen in London and one of the biggest in all of Europe, but it also quite possibly has one of the coolest movie theater aesthetics I’ve ever seen. I don’t have enough pictures to do it justice, but you can spot it with a cylindrical design and wonder how you access it. Well, there’s a set of TUNNELS that take you underneath the street and into the building (I struggled to find the entrance the first time I went there). The cool factor didn’t diminish once I got inside either, as the theater lived up to the hype in terms of scope, and the colors, sound, and overall art design worked to set the stage for what might be one of my favorite theater experiences ever. IMAX truly is special, and so is film.
